The master’s program in Ibsen Studies, which is offered by the University of Oslo’s Centre for Ibsen Studies is an interdisciplinary programme of study that takes as its point of departure the works of Henrik Ibsen and uses them to open up broader perspectives within literary studies, theatre studies, cultural studies, digital humanities, and philosophy, among other disciplines.
The language of instruction for the programme is English, but students with a mastery of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language may choose to use it for written assignments, advising sessions, the master’s thesis, etc. The master’s programme is well suited for students with a bachelor’s degree in Scandinavian Studies. The University of Oslo also offers courses in Norwegian language and culture for interested students, and a number of elective courses offered in Norwegian can be integrated into the programme of study.
