North and South: European Literary and Artistic Connections. Rimini, 2-7 settembre 2012

for papers

From the 2nd to the 7th of September 2012 the University of Bologna will

organize a new conference on inter-European themes:

and South: European Literary and Artistic Connections

The conference, which will cover four days of

lectures and one day dedicated to an excursion, will take place at the

four-star Hotel National (see separate sheet) in Rimini, located on the seaside

South-East of Bologna, and easily reached by train from this city.

Conference languages are English, German,

French, Spanish and Italian. No abstract is required, but prepare a one-page

handout in English to be distributed during the conference (particularly useful

in the case of papers presented in another language than English). Scholarly

board: Professors Ole Karlsen (Hamar), Ingeborg Kongslien (Oslo), Bjørn Tysdahl

(Oslo), VigdisYstad (Oslo).

The conference fee (30 Euros for active

participants, and 15 for others) should be paid to the secretaries on arrival

at the hotel. There will be further information about the Wednesday excursion

in our next letters. We expect the price of the journey (by bus) to be about 35

Euros and 35/40 Euros for lunch in a carefully chosen restaurant. Hotel prices

in Rimini and a booking form can be found in the attached information from

Hotel National.

Flights to and from Bologna are frequent from

various European airports. To Rimini there are direct flights from London,

Copenhagen and Munich (some of them run by low-cost airlines). Useful websites:; For train connections:

To enter your name for the conference, please

send an e-mail to Stefano Massari ( or Bjørn Tysdahl (  by February 1, 2012. A second circular

letter will follow in mid-February to those who have responded positively to

this invitation.
